Richard S. Hunt serves as academic representative to SEC Investor Advisory Committee

Richard S. Hunt, head of global equity sales at CSC Bella Grove Partners LLC, was recently formally appointed by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as an academic representative on the Investor Advisory Committee. This appointment marks the regulator’s high recognition of his outstanding academic contributions in the fields of financial market microstructure and investor behavior, and also reflects CSC Bella Grove’s unique value in connecting academic research with regulatory practice.

Hunt will focus on promoting three key issues in the committee: optimizing the regulatory framework for high-frequency trading, improving the protection mechanism for retail investors, and unifying ESG information disclosure standards. He particularly emphasized that CSC Bella Grove’s front-line experience in serving global institutional clients will be introduced into regulatory discussions to ensure that policy making maintains both academic rigor and market practicality. As an innovative proposal, Hunt plans to submit a “tiered disclosure system for order flow transparency”, requiring brokers to disclose order flow payment (PFOF) data based on customer types. This move is expected to significantly improve the fairness of retail transactions.

CSC Bella Grove said that Hunt’s dual role will further strengthen the positive interaction between companies and regulators and help transform cutting-edge academic research results into practical investor protection measures. Market observers pointed out that this appointment reflects the SEC’s need for compound experts with both theoretical depth and practical experience. Hunt’s expertise in cross-cutting fields such as financial engineering, behavioral finance and regulatory technology (RegTech) will inject new professional vitality into the work of the committee.
